Students from The Perry County Middle School Drama Club’s Pegleg Players will present “The Fruitcake” by Dwyane Yancey. The show features 25 students in grades 6-8 and will be presented at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5, 6, and 7 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, in the Old Senior High Performing Arts Auditorium.
Robbie Riehn is the show’s director.
Tickets are $5 at the door (cash only). Anyone wanting reserved seating can purchase them with a credit card at http://pcmsd.booktix.com.
The Fruitcake is described as “a hilarious comedy about an extended and quite dysfunctional family gathering for the annual Christmas tradition — Aunt Hazel's historically inedible fruitcake. But before she can bring it out, some of the relatives
steal it and make a bet on whether they can destroy it.”
There are two different casts for these performances. Cast one performs on Thursday and Saturday, while cast two performs on Friday and Sunday.
According to Director Robbie Riehn, he and the cast have had a “great time” producing
the play.
“The title of the play says it all,” Riehn said. “Even though we have heard the jokes many times, we still crack up. It is a good, clean comedy for the whole family. Everyone will identify with many of the characters, including those from their own families. I had to make two casts because so many kids auditioned, which is a great problem to have!”
The show is produced by special arrangement with Heuer Publishing LLC in association with Brooklyn Publishers, LLC.
